IAI has signed a deal with two separate states to provide long-range cruising weapon systems.

The estimated value of the two contracts is above half a billion shekel. The two orders come after other nations equipped themselves with the same weapon systems earlier this year.

The system in question is the Harpy series of kamikaze drones, intended to be launched from a truck, fly independently to an opposing drone control station, and destroy it to allow other aircraft a clear airspace in which to operate.

IAI had held a patent on the system since the 1980s when the original system was developed to be used against air defense systems.

IAI director Boaz Levi commented: "These weapon systems have already brought significant achievements in their operational combat capacity throughout the world and are a fully operational, offensive, central, and decisive weapon on the battlefield. Their precision gives a significant advantage both at operational and political levels, for precise neutralization of a threat in a war zone. These deals are additional proof of the importance of the trust that is placed in the precision weapon systems made by IAI, which give operational advantages to our customers throughout the world."
