Zainab Chaudry, a member of Maryland's special task force against hate crimes, recently published antisemitic posts comparing Israel to Nazi Germany and claiming that reports that Hamas had beheaded babies were an Israeli fabrication.
Chaudry, an anti-Israel activist who serves as the chairwoman of the Council for American Islamic Relations, published the post on October 26th. In the post she wrote, "I will never understand how the world feels angry at 40 imaginary Israeli babies, but completely ignores 3,000 real Palestinian babies."
A few days before that she published pictures of the Brandenburg gate in Berlin, with one of the pictures lit up in the colors of the Israeli flag and the other a picture of the same gate adorned with Nazi flags in 1936. She captioned the pictures "When you become what you hated the most".
In another post she hinted that Israel's existence is the cause of all wars, writing "Everything began in 1948", and calling Israel's existence "an unpleasant fact". In yet another post, she shared a quote praising the 'Palestinian martyrs'.
She was appointed to her position as the head of the task force against hate crimes by the Attorney General of maryland, Anthony Brown. According to Brown, the task force is intended to 'deal with hate crimes in Maryland, and to connect and improve a variety of viewpoints in a positive and significant manner."
A press release published on Fox News stated that 'The opinions of any member of the Council are not indicative of those held by the task force, or by the attorney general. We understand that there are many viewpoints regarding the current events in the Middle East. This office will do the best it can to investigate the effects of these events on our communities, and to decide how best handle the escalating discrimination and hate crime in our state."
