As part of a broad raid operation on Hamas's government buildings, soldiers from the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion raided the Governor's House, which is used as a Hamas terror facility containing offices of the military, police, intelligence and headquarters.
During searches of the building, the soldiers found equipment belonging to the battalion that took part in the battles on the morning of October 7, Simchat Torah Sabbath.
The battalion equipment taken from IDF outposts includes weapons, documents and other equipment belonging to the 13th Battalion soldiers. The equipment will be transferred to Israeli territory and examined by IDF officials.
Finding these items is significant for the battalion's combat soldiers and commanders. The soldiers located the equipment while operating deep in Gaza, during heavy battle, destroying terrorist infrastructure and eliminating terrorists, some of whom participated in the heinous massacre carried out by Hamas.
Earlier, the IDF published documentation of the Division 162 forces’ activities that significantly destroyed the terrorist infrastructure and Hamas’ operational capabilities.
So far, the forces of the battalion have located more than 160 tunnel shafts, attacked 2,800 terrorist infrastructures and eliminated 1,000 Hamas terrorists and commanders.
As part of the division's activities in the Gaza Strip, Division 162 raided strategic and essential Hamas terrorist assets, including: the Force 17 post, Hamas's security quarter, the Rantisi Hospital, which was used by the terrorist organization for military activity and holding hostages, and the Badr post.
One of the most prominent areas where the forces of the division operated is the Shati camp, one of the main Hamas camps in Gaza, which concentrates many infrastructures and forces of Hamas battalions, among them the Shati Battalion, which played a central part in the events on Shabbat October 7.
