Minister for the Advancement of the Status of Women of Israel May Golan spoke with Iran International, a London-based Farsi and English news channel that opposes the Iranian regime, about Israel's ongoing war with Hamas.
"Israel's endgame is not only to destroy Hamas, it is to destroy all terrorism in Gaza. And when I say all terrorism in Gaza, you have to understand that at the end of the day, the people who broke the fence, murdered women and children, burned babies, and raped women, were Gazan civilians. And that, I think, is the most hurtful thing of all. The Gazans could have enjoyed the neighbor that they had. When we left the Gaza Strip, we expected it to become the next Singapore. We expected them to build roads, culture, and advance education. Instead, we got missiles and tunnels. So really, the endgame is that Israel can no longer exist next to this Nazi threat," Golan declared.
Regarding the question of Gaza's future, she stated: "I believe that until we eliminate terror, the Israeli authorities will see what is going on in the Gaza Strip and won't let terrorism rise again. I can tell you what I hope: I hope that the people of Gaza, that those two million civilians, will finally wake up and say, 'We don't want the education of Hamas for our children. Since they are born they are taught to hate Jews, to murder Jews, to be raping Jews.' I really, really hope that they will wake up and choose a different regime that will be democratic."
Golan added: "If they want another terrorist leader, we'll destroy them again, if they want something else, we will help them do that."
