Officials in the Palestinian Authority (PA) are livid over the directives of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to worsen the conditions of Hamas terrorists who were arrested during the October 7 attack on Israeli towns located near the Gaza border.
According to various reports, the terrorists have been placed in solitary confinement and are chained together throughout the day, sleep on beds made out of stone and receive only basic food items.
The PA foreign affairs bureau condemned what it defined as "violations of the rights of Palestinian detainees and the crimes committed against them, which include abuse, violent treatment towards them, and humiliation that are contrary to humanity, morality and the law."
"Minister Ben Gvir reflects the government's policy in his approach of revenge and he finds an opportunity to satisfy his desire to commit the most heinous forms of abuse, oppression and crimes against the detainees," the bureau said.
It asked its embassies around the world to turn to the decision makers and public opinion in those countries, in order to reveal the conditions to which the Palestinian Arab detainees are subjected.
