A Jewish-owned ice cream shop in San Francisco was vandalized with anti-Israel graffiti, local news site Mission Local reported.

The windows of Smitten Ice Cream were smashed, while another window had the words "FREE PALESTIEN" written across it, with "Palestine" misspelled.

A police spokesman said officers responded to an alarm at the store shortly before 3 am local time.

“When they met with the victim, they were able to determine that the business had been vandalized for unknown reasons," the spokesman said.

It was not clear if the vandalism would be investigated as a hate crime.

The Anti-Defamation League reported that there has been a nearly 400% increase in antisemitic incidents in the US in the aftermath of the Hamas massacre of over 1,400 Israelis on October 14.

In Los Angeles, a man was arrested after he attempted to break into the home of a Jewish family after apparently noticing the mezuzahs on their doorposts. The homeowner said that the suspect yelled "Israel kill people."

The suspect also screamed "Free Palestine" repeatedly upon his arrest.
