Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday afternoon gave a joint statement with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, following a meeting between them.

"Hamas are the new Nazis, the new ISIS," Netanyahu said. "Britain fought the Nazis. The world stood by them in their darkest hour. That is why we must stand together and win now. We must fight and we will win."

He also warned that the war will be long, but that Hamas must be eliminated.

Sunak stressed, "We absolutely support Israel's right to defend itself, to go after Hamas, and to return its hostages."

"In direct contrast to Hamas, Israel is doing everything possible to avoid harming civilians. We thank you for that, and are increasing our aid to the region," he added, noting that "the Palestinian people are also victims of Hamas."

"Prime Minister Netanyahu called this Israel's darkest hour. I am proud to stand with you today, in your darkest hour."
