Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said that, "the cessation of settlement and the end of Israeli occupation over the State of Palestine is one complete package to ensure the establishment of peace, security and stability in the region."

Abu Rudeineh's statement was made in response to the announcement by Prime Minister Netanyahu's office which denied reports regarding the construction freeze in Judea and Samaria. Netanyahu said that there was not - and will not be - a freeze.

According to the spokesman, "without a change in Israel's policy that seeks to annex, expand and establish the occupation, the entire region will face a dangerous historical and strategic crossroads."

"What is required is to apply pressure on Israel in a practical and immediate manner, without too many useless statements, and oblige it to implement the decisions of international legitimacy - first of all the cessation of settlement activity that violates international law, and especially resolution 2334, because the situation on the ground cannot bear additional condemnations without results," he was quoted as saying.

Abu Rudeineh emphasized that: "all the plans that the occupation is trying to implement to prolong itself will achieve nothing because of the Palestinian people's firm stand on their land, their aggressive activity in the international arena that has begun to weaken Israeli power due to its disregard for international legitimacy and international law."

The spokesman also said that, "the official Palestinian position is clear, and is based on basic national principles, international legitimacy, and the Arab peace initiative."
