Herzl Hajaj, the father of the late Shir Hajaj, who was murdered in a terror attack in the Armon Hanatziv area of Jerusalem in 2017, criticized the coalition's intention to appoint MK Ahmad Tibi as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset.

"The coalition's decision to appoint Ahmad Tibi as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset is simply a despicable decision for us, the bereaved families whose children were murdered," he told Israel National News.

"Just yesterday he supported terrorists in Jenin who are trying to kill our soldiers and you, without an iota of respect for our martyrs, want to appoint him. He insults every member of the Knesset who steps on the podium."

"He is not to be appointed in any way, not even in games of political deals. Don't try to fool us, we are tired of your games. We do not cooperate with supporters of terrorism."

Israel National News has learned that Likud wants to appoint Tibi as Knesset Deputy Speaker on the grounds that they have relatively good working relationships with him, with the help of which significant achievements have been achieved. However, the Otzma Yehudit party is adamantly opposed to the appointment.

According to party sources, "MK Tibi lied and cheated on several occasions." They point out that the main reason is that, "Tibi supports terrorists in general and the Jenin terrorists most recently."

Otzma Yehudit declares that they will not support the appointment and in the coming days will make a decision whether to prevent or oppose the move. The party stated that, "Even in Likud there are MKs who oppose the appointment and say they will vote against Tibi's appointment as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset."
