MK Ahmed Tibi (Ta'al) spoke to the television program Meet the Press about the riots in the Palestinian Authority city of Turmus Aya.

"Journalist Amit Segal wrote 'the fact that the rioters in Lod (during Operation Guardian of the Walls) are not counting their dead this morning is not restraint, but blindness and fear', and 'the Jew who shot in Turmus Aya should shake the nation'. Are you willing to say the same thing about the Jewish rioters that burned Turmus Aya, Umm Safa, and Huwara?"

"It was an Arab that was murdered in Lod," Tibi said. "He was shot from a distance of fifty meters. Do Palestinians not have the right to defend themselves against the terrorist settlers? Can they not shoot settlers to prevent his family being burned in his house?"

"I want to prevent anyone being hurt. I am against administrative arrests for both sides, and overall, the goal must be to end the occupation," Tibi concluded.
