Hundreds of residents of the town of Avnei Hefetz in Samaria demonstrated on Tuesday evening at the scene of Tuesday morning’s shooting attack outside the town that left one Israeli lightly wounded.

Following the attack, the IDF blocked the entrance to the nearby Palestinian Arab village of Shufa. The terrorist has not yet been arrested and searches are being conducted to locate him.

The head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, said at the demonstration, "We are saying here to the cowardly barbarians who are thinking of shooting here and then running away like cowards, we are not afraid of you. We will travel and build here because this is our land. We stand here with a clear demand from the government, we elected you, we sent you to be a proud Jewish government and not a kowtowing government that continues the promiscuous policies of the previous government."

"Come to your senses already," demanded Dagan. "The entire nation of Israel expects you to barricade the checkpoints immediately. When they opened the checkpoints here, we protested and said that blood would be spilled here. The writing was on the wall and we will never agree to be sitting ducks and we will never accept that Jewish lives will be fair game here. If you don't close [the checkpoints] even after the attack, we will close the checkpoint ourselves because we will not abandon the lives of the residents of Samaria."

The deputy head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yair Kind, called at the demonstration on the leaders of Israel to restore security and said, "Our blood is not fair game, our blood is not water, we demand governance and we demand security."
