Following the appeal of Eli Ben-Shem, chairman of the Yad Labanim organization, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, opposition chairman Yair Lapid and National Unity leader MK Benny Gantz signed a joint call to keep politics out of any Memorial Day services being held in cemeteries.
"I thank Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Gallant, Opposition Chairman Lapid and National Unity chairman Gantz for responding to our request. The last few weeks have been unbearably difficult for the bereaved families, which are torn from the inside due to the intensity of the controversy. Just before they go to the cemeteries where our loved ones are buried, I hope that the revelation of responsibility and leadership demonstrated here by our elected officials will convey this correct and very important message to all Israeli citizens," said Ben-Shem.
