MK Danny Danon from the Likud said in an interview to Israel's Meet the Press that he is disappointed that he did not get a government position.

"We were run over in negotiations," he said. He also revealed that Prime Minister Netanyahu offered him the position of Minister of Intelligence, but he decided to refuse. "In my opinion, the intelligence portfolio is unnecessary in its current format, along with several other portfolios. In this portfolio specifically, you have no authority, you write reports and advise."

When Danon was asked why Netanyahu did not offer him another position, he said that in his opinion the negotiations were problematic for the coalition's partnership. "They need to recognize the leadership of the Likud so that we can function."

"In practice, what the Prime Minister wants happens in the government," Danon said. "There was not enough to go around in the negotiations. I am not angry that I did not receive a portfolio, but I am disappointed. I support the government and I am happy working in the Knesset."

He also added that "this government needs to be led, and not by the members who joined. All the statements about harming minorities will not happen, I will not support it, my friends in Likud will not support it and neither will Netanyahu."
