MK Moshe “Kinli” Turpaz (Yesh Atid) is not among those who are welcoming the establishment of the new government, but quite the opposite. “I’m actually mourning the new government,” he told Israel National News on Thursday.
"I think it brings us very problematic things. I criticize most of the bad things, although there are good things and I will praise those, I will try to be a substantive opposition, but today I am more sorry than congratulatory. Today is indeed a day of celebration for democracy, but I feel that the majority of Israeli citizens should be worried today," said Turpaz.
Asked what are the good things that should be welcomed in the new government, he replied, "I wanted the haredim in the previous government, I said that we lacked a haredi party and I am happy for their return [to the government]. I would like to hope that this will come not with sectarianism but with taking greater responsibility, regarding employment, regarding military service and the responsibility of this large and growing public."
Turpaz will be seen in Knesset committees dealing with matters of education but, in his estimation, as a senior officer in the past, he will also deal with security-related matters. "I will be wherever they need me", as he put it.
