Nothing is more fascinating than seeing how the leaders of the Jewish people spend the most critical moments of the year. The Gedolei HaDor hear stories from suffering people of all types, and reflect deeply on what can be done to fix our broken world - And this year, they are doing something huge to repair it.

Erev Yom Kippur, the Rachmastrivka Rebbe and Rav Mordechai Gross, two massively famous and respected rabbanim, will do a special prayer to remove “klalot” from those who donate to Vaad HaRabbanim’s Yom Kippur campaign. Indeed, for some it seems that the suffering does not stop. But in the merit of helping poor families, these rabbis will pray with fire in their hearts to remove the decree.

The main event, however, will take place on Yom Kippur itself. Just before the chilling prayer of Neila, a huge gathering of rabbanim including Rav Gershon Edelstein and Rav Reuven Elbaz will pray in shul for donors to be saved from all harsh decrees and sicknesses. At one of the holiest and most critical moments of their year their thoughts will be not on themselves but on the poor of the Jewish People and on you, if you join them.

Names are being collected for the tefilot for the coming hours only. Once Yom Kippur arrives, it will be too late.

In the words of the campaign itself, some may ask themselves if they can afford to help. The more relevant question, however, is can they afford not to?
