Defense Minister Benny Gantz spoke today with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The discussion focused on the implications of US President Biden’s visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia, as well as on ways to deepen regional defense cooperation under US leadership.
The parties also discussed the continued pressure on Iran and the negotiations for a nuclear agreement. In addition they spoke of the need to reach an agreement regarding the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon, and the United States’ critical role in this matter.
Minister Gantz detailed a series of measures that are being undertaken to ensure stability in Judea and Samaria, as well as in Gaza. He also noted that the IDF is working to complete its investigation of the events that led to the passing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, and said that Israel will share the results of the investigation with the US upon its completion.
