Alexander Savnok, 43, of Beit Shemesh, allegedly murdered his daughter Liana (22) and then took his own life.

According to Channel 13 News, a police investigation revealed that he may have also planned to murder his 17-year-old son. "He called me and demanded that I come. He sounded very upset. I opened the door and saw that Liana was dead."

Beit Shemesh Mayor Aliza Bloch visited the family's home after the incident. She later stated "I am now leaving the house of the late Liana Savnok, my former student at Branco Weiss school, a graduate of the Air Force's program. She was a smart, hardworking girl, full of love. I will always remember her smile. The welfare teams have been working with the family since the incident became known and will continue to stand by their side as long as they need. The residents of Beit Shemesh as a whole embrace the family. May she rest in peace."

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Gideon Sa'ar commented on the murder as well: "My heart breaks to hear of this. The life of 21-year-old Liana Savnok was brutally cut short by her father. The terror of domestic violence should not be accepted as fate. In this case too, there was a restraining order against the killer. I am obliged to complete the bill that I led, and which was approved in the first reading, for electronic supervision for the purpose of enforcing restraining orders in cases of dangerous family members".
