US President Joe Biden's doctor Dr. Kevin O’Connor updated that the president's COVID-19 symptoms continue to improve.

Dr. O'Connor updated that Biden completed his second full day of Paxlovid treatment.

According to the doctor's statement, the president's symptoms are less troublesome. Biden is experiencing a sore throat, runny nose, loose cough and body aches.

O'Connor added that according to preliminary sequencing results, the president likely has the new BA.5 variant.

President Biden will continue to use Paxlovid as well as an albuterol inhaler for a cough. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen levels remain normal.

"I anticipated that he will respond favorably, as most maximally protected patients do," Dr. O'Connor added. "There has been nothing in the course of his illness thus far which gives me cause to alter that initial expectation."
