Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai from the Labor Party spoke to Israel National News on Wednesday, before US President Joe Biden landed in Israel.
"This is a very important visit," Shai said. "Not every country in the world sees the President of the United States once every term and sometimes twice in a term. Biden is a great friend of Israel and relations with them are important and strategic. There is an alliance between us that cannot be broken. I am glad that he came here to strengthen this alliance and speak to the citizens of the State of Israel. It's a great day for us."
Minister Shai was asked about President Biden's visit to eastern Jerusalem without the presence of Israeli officials and replied, "Eastern Jerusalem is an integral part of the State of Israel, just as all of Jerusalem is. We will not quarrel with them about it. They know our position."
