Palestinian Arabs reported clashes in Jenin with IDF soldiers overnight Thursday.
According to the reports, three armed Palestinian Arab men were killed in an exchange of gunfire and another eight were wounded.
Videos circulated on social media showed a Mazda vehicle with bullets and blood stains. According to the reports, the three terrorists were shot while sitting in their vehicle. They were evacuated to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said, “Overnight, IDF soldiers operated in two different locations in the Jenin Camp in order to locate and confiscate illegal weapons.”
At the first location, it said Palestinian assailants fired heavily toward the soldiers and hurled explosive devices at them. The soldiers responded with live fire.
While advancing to the second location, the soldiers identified a suspicious vehicle stationed at the side of the road. Armed assailants inside of the vehicle began shooting at the soldiers, who responded with live fire to neutralize the assailants.
“After the exchange of fire, the soldiers located two M-16 rifles, a ‘Carlo’ submachine gun, loaded magazines and a military vest inside the vehicle,” the IDF statement said.
On Wednesday, the IDF, Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and Border Police forces conducted counterterrorism activities in a number of locations in Judea and Samaria.
Among the towns included in the operation were Silwad, Kadum, and Hableh.
During operational activity in the city of Hebron, IDF soldiers apprehended an individual suspected of involvement in terrorist activities, confiscated a “Carlo” submachine gun and other weaponry. Israeli Border Police forces also confiscated over 100,000 NIS worth of funds designated for terror activity.
In addition, IDF soldiers apprehended three terrorist suspects in the city of Tulkarem. The soldiers also operated in the town of Shuweika to apprehend an additional suspect and to confiscate illegal weapons. Additionally, the security forces apprehended a terrorist suspect and confiscated various illegal weapons in the city of Bethlehem.
A total of 11 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities were apprehended during the overnight operations. No IDF injuries were reported.
The suspects and the confiscated funds and weapons were transferred to the security forces for further processing.
