5WPR: What If Russia Limited Where Jews Could Live?

Owning 5WPR, a leading PR Agency, I wonder how the Jewish world would react if Jews legally owned land in Moscow and international leaders condemned the Jews who chose to build in that land.

Or imagine that, say in Harlem, Jews legally purchased land and chose to build – would the ADL stay quiet if a foreign government said Jews shouldn’t live there?

Well, the above has happened – but it’s in Jerusalem, the holiest Jewish city in the world, where the Jewish state has decided to legally build – and America and other world leaders are upset.

As a senior Israeli government source told Channel 2 News in Israel, "continued construction is done according to Israel's strategic interests." And guess what – any free people does what is best for them.

In a world where tens of thousands of Syrians are being slaughtered on Israel’s borders, 3000 homes being built is the problem?

A similar condemnation took place a few years ago, and an applicable quote was made by Cherna Moskowitz, an American Jewish heroine, who with her husband Irving Moskowitz, has invested in extensive development in East Jerusalem: “This seems to be a continuation of a 2,000-year-old habit of Jews being told where they can and cannot live. This spanned from the ghettos of medieval Europe, to severe zoning restrictions in czarist Russia and finally to the edicts of Nazism, where we were eventually told that we could not live at all. Can it be possible that we will accept any part of that today in our own nation? Jews should be able to live anywhere in the world."

So simple, and so true. Nowhere in the western world is segregation allowed based on one’s religion – nor in the Jewish state of Israel can Jews be discriminated against because they are Jewish.

If Jews are free in 2012 to live in Toulouse or Berlin, Moscow or Vienna, should they not be free to live in all areas of Jerusalem? And where are worldwide Jewish leaders attacking those who dare to question the right of Jews to build freely anywhere in the country? Shame on them for their silence.

Remember the words of the great Ze’ev Jabotinsky: “There is no justice, no law, and no God in heaven, only a single law which decides and supersedes all—- [Jewish] settlement [of the land.”

And no matter what the UN or the United States says, the Jewish people live. Am Israel Chai.
