הרב יהושע שפירא: 'רב חיים', כולו היה תורהיהונתן גוטליב

Among the thousands upon thousands of people gathered in Bnei Brak for the funeral of the Sar haTorah, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky ztz"l, is Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, dean of the Ramat Gan yeshiva.

"Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky was unique in our generation," he told Israel National News, while attempting without success to hold back his tears.

"Rav Chaim was entirely Torah -- he was Torah through-and-through. Hakadosh Baruch Hu plants tzaddikim [righteous people] in each generation, and in our generation, He planted Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky -- and now He has uprooted him," he continued.

"The Torah is now clothed in mourning and we have come here to participate in the grief," he added. "We can only hope that we will merit to have Rav Chaim's Torah learning continue to illuminate us, and that future generations will continue to be attached to Torah with all their might."
