Israeli security forces carried out the evacuation of a number of structures at the former site of the town of Homesh in northern Samaria Friday morning.

Israeli police, Border Police, and IDF forces were deployed to Homesh early Friday morning, demolishing a number of homes and other structures built without authorization at the site of the former Israeli town.

Homesh, evacuated as part of the Gaza Disenagement Plan in August 2005, has been the target of resettlement efforts by activists looking to reestablish a Jewish presence in parts of northern Samaria evacuated 16 years ago.

Two homes were demolished Friday morning, along with a makeshift dormitory used by the Homesh yeshiva.

Thus far, however, security forces have not evacuated the Homesh yeshiva itself.

In a statement released Friday, yeshiva officials condemned the demolition as a “reward for terrorism”.

“There are no words. Unfortunately, we see that the Israeli government has decided after the terror attack in which Yehuda Dimentman was murdered to take down the Homesh yeshiva. The terrorists have accomplished their goal using an outside contractor – the Israeli government.”

The evacuation comes a week after Arab terrorists attacked a group of students from the Homesh yeshiva, fatally shooting 25-year-old Yehuda Dimentman.

Just hours before the evacuation Friday, thousands gathered in Homesh for a memorial service in honor of Dimentman.
