Former MK Yehuda Glick was detained on Saturday night at the Walaja checkpoint south of Jerusalem on suspicion of trying to bring in an illegal alien.

Glick claimed that he was the one who approached the police at the checkpoint and asked them to check him out. Police are investigating the incident.

Half a year ago, Glick announced his intention to run in the 2021 Israeli presidential election but withdrew from the race just a few hours before the deadline to submit candidacies.

In the winter of 2014, Glick was shot by a Palestinian Arab terrorist from Abu Tor, as he was leaving the annual conference of Temple Mount activists at the Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem.

The shooter had worked for about a year at a restaurant operating in the Begin Heritage Center complex and was a member of the Islamic Jihad. After about two months, Glick was released from the hospital.
