Dr. Alon Schwartz, a senior surgeon at the trauma unit of the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, said on Sunday night that the hospital's doctors had delivered the baby of the 21-year-old woman who was seriously wounded in the shooting attack at the Ofra junction.
The baby is stable condition and has been transferred to the hospital ward for premature babies. His wounded mother is in the operating room and is still suffering from life threatening injuries.
The woman's family is asking the public to pray for the recovery for Shira Yael bat Liora.
Dr. Schwartz said that the victim is “suffering from gunshot wounds in the pelvic area and abdomen. The woman arrived in critical condition, she lost a lot of blood, received blood transfusions, was stabilized and was taken to the operating room for urgent emergency surgery. She underwent a caesarean section and then surgery to treat her injuries. The baby is in the NICU and is being evaluated."
"The woman is still in the operating room, and it is still impossible to say that her life is not in danger, but she is under supervision. In addition, three more people arrived with gunshot wounds, one is in moderate condition, and two others are in light condition,” the doctor added.
