Former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman slammed the chief of staff and IDF generals a few days before he resigned.

Liberman lost his temper during a meeting with IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and IDF generals. Eizenkot said that "there is no justification for a ground operation, there is nothing to gain from it," despite the ongoing barrage of about 500 rockets and mortars from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

"I feel here sometimes as in discussions with Peace Now management," Liberman told the participants.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in response to Lieberman's remarks: "There is no room for such statements. The IDF must be left out of any political debate."

Lieberman's office said that "the outgoing defense minister, MK Avigdor Liberman, never addressed or addressed closed military discussions or rumors and gossip."
