Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke Tuesday at the lighting of the eighth Hanukkah candle together with Likud activists in Kfar Maccabiah.

He referred to the investigations into his case and to publications according to which the police may recommend that he be tried."There'll be recommendations, so what? Most police recommendations end with nothing. More than 60 percent end up in the trash," Netanyahu said.

"In more than 60 percent of the cases these later turn out to be empty recommendations; for thousands of ordinary people, countless public figures; it starts with explosive headlines and most of the time it ends with nothing, but meanwhile something is happening: In the meantime, these people are being destroyed and their blood is being shed," declared the Prime Minister.

He also spoke about the importance of the American declaration of recognition of Jerusalem."One hundred years after the Balfour Declaration and 70 years after the declaration of the State, President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.Well done. There were those who tried to convince the US President that Israel didn't really want this move."

"The President spoke to me several times, including a phone call a few days before his decision, and I told him our attitude toward this step, and he asked if Israel really wanted this. I told him that Israel really wanted it.What does it mean to want? Israel's wanted this for thousands of years," added Netanyahu.

"This move will be remembered for generations, as will President Trump's arrival at the Western Wall, and you know that the UN says the Western Wall is occupied Palestinian territory? So I have news for them: The Wall is ours.It was always ours, always will be ours. The Kotel is at the heart of the United Jerusalem that will always be ours.

"To all those who are trying to rewrite history today, I'd like to mention: The Maccabees were not Palestinians, they were Jews; brothers in arms. What heroism, what pride. And we, in the spirit of the Maccabees, are turning Israel into a very strong country, a rising world power," said Netanyahu.
