Police have arrested a man who allegedly tried kidnapping a young boy in the heavily Jewish neighborhood of Borough Park, the haredi Yeshiva World News reported.

According to the report, a man tried to lure a young boy into his car this past Monday at 6 Avenue and 54 Street but the child resisted his advances. Community leaders alerted the police, who arrested the perpetrator.

In August police released footage showing a man attempting to kidnap a child sitting on his porch in Borough Park. The man can be seen walking to the building where the boy is sitting and telling the boy to come with him, only to flee when his mother confronts him.

In October, a woman was arrested after she tried to walk off with an unattended toddler in 770, the world headquarters of the Chabad movement.

Authorities said that the 18-month old was left unattended by her 26-year old mother when an unidentified woman snatched the baby and started to run off. The baby's mother realized what was going on and called for help, spurring passersby to stop the woman. Police then arrested the perpetrator, whom they said has a mental illness.
