The IDF responded Thursday night to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, hitting two positions held by terrorist forces in the Strip.

Earlier on Thursday, two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip landed in Israel.

Warning sirens were sounded in the Shaar Hanegev and Hof Ashkelon (Ashkelon Coast) regional councils in the western Negev.

Shortly after the sirens were sounded, an IDF spokesperson reported that two rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

Both of the rockets landed in open spaces. There are have been no reports of injuries or of damage.

The rocket fire comes after the Hamas terror organization which rules the Gaza Strip warned that the “gates of hell” would be opened in the region following President Trump’s announcement Wednesday that the US recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Several hours later, Israel responded to the rocket fire with an airstrike and tank fire against two Hamas positions in Gaza.

An IDF spokesperson reiterated Israel’s position that the Hamas regime in Gaza is responsible for all attacks on Israel from the Strip.
