IDF soldiers from the checkpoints division foiled this weekend an attempt by an Arab to smuggle weapons into Judea and Samaria.

Checkpoints division soldiers manning the "Kiosk" checkpoint near the Jerusalem-area town of Abu Dis stopped a suspicious car. Upon investigation, they discovered the vehicle's Arab driver was attempting to smuggle weapons into southern Judea and Samaria.

"I noticed a suspicious car arrive at the checkpoint. Checking the car, I noticed it did not have license plates," Private David Friedson told Arutz Sheva.

"The checkpoint commander and myself requested the driver open the vehicle's trunk. There, we found a surprisingly heavy bag. We called other soldiers over, and found the bag to contain weapons.

"We isolated the suspect, and he has been taken for interrogation."

Friedson, 19, drafted into the IDF's Military Police Corps in March. He immigrated to Israel in 2012 as part of the Na'ale project.

As a soldier in the Checkpoints Division, Friedson was trained to identify suspicious people and situations, as well as to handle security incidents and protect the security of Israel and its citizens. This was his first time confiscating weapons.

"I feel like I handled the situation very professionally, and I'm proud that I was successful," he said.
