A 23-year-old Petah Tikva resident was arrested on suspicion of reporting a fake terror attack to Israel Police.

The suspect called the police hotline on Tuesday night, and reported that the Arab sitting next to him at the bus stop had asked to use his cell phone. When he refused to lend the Arab his phone, the Arab stabbed him, yelled "Allahu Akhbar (Arabic for 'God is great')!" and ran off.

Several squad teams were dispatched to deal with the incident. The teams began searching the area, and the victim, who was lightly injured and suffered scratches to his abdomen, was taken for treatment.

A few minutes later, a suspicion arose that the suspect had made the entire incident up. Later, it was discovered that the cut was not new and was not a result of a terror attack.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of disturbing a police officer and delivering a false report. He will be brought to court on Wednesday.
