Thousands of people came to the Modiin cemetery Sunday afternoon to pay their last respects to the three members of the Salomon family who were murdered by an Arab terrorist Friday night in the town of Halamish (Neve Tzuf) in western Samaria.
The victims included Yosef Salomon, 70, his daughter, Haya, 46, and his son Elad, 35. The family had gathered in Halamish to celebrate the birth of a new grandchild, when an Arab terrorist broke into the house and stabbed four members of the Salomon family, leaving three dead and one wounded.
Elad Salomon, a resident of the town of Elad in central Israel, is survived by his wife and five children. His sister, Haya, had been a teacher in a state national-religious school in Lod. Just last week, she was recognized as “The Most Outstanding Teacher in Lod”.
Elad Mayor Yisrael Porush, who eulogized the victims during the memorial service, described how Elad Salomon’s wife hid her children in a room upstairs while the Arab terrorist carried out his murderous rampage.
“What can you say to a mother who defended her children while the angel of death rampaged on the floor below? How can you console five children who are now left as orphans?”
After the terrorist broke into the Salomon family house and began stabbing her husband, father-in-law, and sister-in-law, Elad’s wife Michal rushed her children upstairs and hid them in a bedroom. Since the door didn’t have a lock, Michal was forced to hold the doorknob and press against the door to hold it shut, in case the terrorist tried to break in.
