Rabbi Haim Druckman, head of Yeshivat Or Etzion and the Bnei Akiva network of Yeshivas and Ulpanas (religious Zionist girl's high schools), called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu not to succumb to pressure and to leave the magnetometers on the Temple Mount.

"I urge you from the depths of my heart not to give in to Arab terror under any circumstances; this is purely a security matter. Magnetometers are everywhere, at the Western Wall, in the Tomb of the Patriarchs, and they are there because of Arab terror. We all must use them so that no one will be hurt, and they must also be on the Temple Mount. Policemen were killed as a result of there being no magnetometers; it's a pity they weren't installed earlier - the two policemen would not have been killed."

He said that surrender to terror violates our sovereignty: "All terror supporters seek to show that we have surrendered and that they control us. But we are a sovereign state, and the Temple Mount is in our hands, and Jerusalem is our capital. We have to take care of the safety and security of each and every individual, whether he is Jewish or not, and it is a moral obligation to use magnetometers. Those who want us to surrender must be the ones to give in and accept this logic."

Rabbi Druckman told Arutz Sheva that the decision not to close the yeshiva military boarding high school he established that was slated for closure after Defense Ministry decided to end funding led to an avalanche of registration for next year: "It's unbelievable: Word that the school would continue went around and there were more registrations than in previous years. I welcome the decision that prevented injustice. We have not yet identified all the candidates who are suitable to be IDF commanders; not everyone is suitable, but thank G-d we have many applicants."
