Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu lambasted a Haaretz writer on Sunday over an article that denigrated the parents of a fallen IDF soldier whose body has been held in captivity by the Hamas terror organization.

Gideon Levy, a far-left anti-Zionist writer for Haaretz who has endorsed anti-Israel boycotts, attacked the parents of Hadar Goldin in his latest article, accusing the bereaved parents of the fallen IDF soldier of seeking to abuse the residents of the Gaza Strip.

"The Goldins want their dead son's body returned by Hamas at any price, and they want to extract that price from the Gaza Strip’s two million cursed inhabitants."

He went on to accuse the Goldins of wanting to force all Gazans to live through a humanitarian crisis without electricity and of wanting terrorists in Israeli prisons to be tortured.

Levy’s screed elicited outrage, including from Prime Minister Netanyahu, who took to Facebook to condemn Levy for his attack on the Goldins.

“The wild assault by Gideon Levy of Haaretz against the members of the Goldin family is a new low in nastiness and evil-heartedness,” wrote Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister added that Levy made no mention of the Hamas terror organization’s responsibility to release Hadar Goldin’s body, or the body of Oron Shaul, another IDF soldier murdered by Hamas in 2014.

“Instead of demanding that Hamas free Hadar and Oron, along with our civilians being held captive in the Gaza Strip, Gideon Levy attacks the Goldin family and accuses them of incitement. What an embarrassment.”
