A prosecutor’s statement was filed yesterday against two Arab youth from the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem for possession and creation of weapons, after a sports bag in their possession was found to contain Molotov cocktails, gasoline, and a knife.
The two were caught at the beginning of last week, after having been under the surveillance of border policemen stationed in Jabel Mukaber. The policemen noticed that the youth were carrying a bag that appeared unusually heavy.
As the policemen approached the youth, they noticed the smell of gasoline. After confiscating the bag in the youths’ possession, they found that it contained 9 glass bottles, two of which had already been prepared for use as Molotov cocktails. They also found a plastic bottle full of gasolene and a knife.
In addition, the bag was found to have the name “Bahaa Aliaan” on it. This was one of the terrorists who perpetrated the stabbing and shooting attack on a bus in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem in October 2015, during which 3 Israelis were murdered.
The two youth were arrested and brought in for investigation, where they admitted the suspicions against them. The investigation revealed that they had intended to throw the Molotov cocktails at a security force stationed near Jabel Mukaber.
An indictment is to be filed against the two this week.
