Arad municipal workers on Sunday morning removed signs with political or religious messages which had been hung throughout the city.

The workers were met by Gur hasidim, who yelled at them and worked to prevent the signs' removal.

Israel Police arrived to intervene, in an effort to prevent the disagreement from escalating.

Several of the Gur hasidim were detained for a few minutes.

Later on Sunday morning, the Gur hasidim shouted at Arad Mayor Nissan Ben-Hemo as he drove by in his car. After Ben-Hemo exited his vehicle, the hasidim began a fight and quickly turned violent.
