Although many are not aware of it, according to Transportation Ministry regulations updated May 23, 2016, you may teach your children driving, that is, not through a driving school, if you meet the conditions required for driving lessons.

The following are the conditions and requirements according to the Transportation Ministry:

Private Driving Teacher's Permit (not through a Driving School):

  • Driving instruction is only permitted according to an advance permit from the Licensing Authority and in accordance with the conditions of the permit.

Conditions required according to the training manual:

  • Must meet conditions specified in Traffic Regulation 15B;
  • Three-year practical experience driving type of license required for teaching;
  • Written statement that student is first-degree relative to teacher;
  • Teaching will be done without pay or compensation;
  • Confirmation of completion of preventive driving course;
  • Statement that for one year the teacher did not receive a driving teaching license from any licensing office.

Conditions for the vehicle in which the training will take place:

  • Suitable student driver signs;
  • Engine capacity of at least 1150 cc;
  • Overall vehicle length not less than 385 cm with a rigid body and roof;
  • Parking brake handle positioned between the two front seats;
  • Additional brake pedal for instructor (must provide certification from authorized installer / certified laboratory)

The training permit:

No more than two training permits will be approved for the same person per year.
