After hammering the media throughout the presidential race, President-elect Donald Trump isn’t letting up on the Fourth Estate, condemning the media for allegedly encouraging the mass protests against his win on Tuesday.

Since the election, demonstrations – some of them violent – have hit cities across the United States.

In downtown Oakland, rioters destroyed storefronts, burned garbage, and called for Trump’s assassination. Similar demonstrations were reported in Los Angeles, Portland, Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Trump said the demonstrations were, given his decisive election win, “Very unfair!”

The President-elect blamed the media, saying news outlets had “incited” the protesters.

“Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!”

Trump’s tweet on the protests came hours after he met with President Obama for the first time, in the first of several planned meetings in the White House.

The Oval Office meeting on Thursday marks the beginning of the 70-day transition of power, which will be capped off with Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.

President Obama called the meeting “excellent,” and said the time had come to unite behind the new president and ensure he succeeds.

“It is important for all of us, regardless of party, regardless of political preferences to now come together, work together," Obama said.

"If you succeed, the country succeeds," the president told Trump.
