Hadar Goldin's family members have sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Cabinet ministers, following the meeting between Netanyahu and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Goldin was killed in 2014's Operation Protective Edge, and his body is still being held by Hamas, along with that of fellow soldier Oron Shaul, who was also killed in that war. Shoukry promised to help return Israel's captured and missing soldiers, which would include Goldin.
"After thirty years of abductions, you have an opportunity to make a change in the equation and to prevent the next kidnappings," the family wrote.
"In the past day a senior delegation from Egypt arrived in Israel," the letter continued, noting that Israel and Egypt have had a peace agreement for decades and that Egypt is a central power in the region, particularly when dealing with Hamas. "It is the guarantor to the ceasefire agreement in which Hamas made its demands for ending Operation Protective Edge.
"In the names of our children, the IDF soldiers and the Israeli citizens, we urge you not to forget the return of Hadar and Oron (Shaul), as they were forgotten in the agreement with Turkey. We consider you to be responsible for returning our sons' bodies."
Hadar Goldin's parents and brothers concluded with their demand for Netanyahu and the Cabinet: "Take action and share our voices. This isn't the cry of private families, but rather the national responsibility that is laid on the country, to make the enemy understand that they must return our sons and that no one should dare kidnap our children again."
