Coalition head David Biton (Likud) says that he will continue promoting the Suspension Bill, after the Zionist Union refused to present a private bill to remove MK Haneen Zoabi (Joint List) from the Knesset.
MK Biton, with the agreement of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, had told Yitzhak Herzog (Zionist Union) that he would freeze the Suspension Bill on condition that the opposition introduces a law to remove Zoabi.
However, the Zionist Union refused the offer and instead preferred MK Eitan Cabel's (Zionist Union) suggestion to leave the Knesset Assembly whenever Zoabi gives a speech.
"There was a golden opportunity to remove Zoabi from the Knesset once and for all, and the Zionist Union thwarted the process," said Biton. "The plan to leave the Assembly each time Haneen Zoabi gives a speech is like getting punched and responding with a pillow fight."
He added that "Instead of removing Zoabi from the Knesset they suggest removing themselves from the Assembly. It's a sad joke."
