Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed this morning (Monday) for a historic state visit of several African countries. Over the next four days Netanyahu will visit Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

Netanyahu's visit is the first by a sitting Israeli Prime Minister in decades, with the goal of improving relations with these countries as well as developing economic ties.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to Africa will begin in Uganda with an official welcome followed by an official ceremony at Entebbe to mark 40 years since the famous raid, in which Netanyahu's brother Yonatan was killed. Later the Prime Minister will meet with East African heads of state who are travelling to Uganda to meet him.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will also visit Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia where he will hold official meetings with their heads of state.

Netanyahu's visit also has major economic significance. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by dozens of Israeli business leaders in order to build commercial ties with African companies and countries.
