Jerusalem police arrested two men in the capital accused of growing large quantities of marijuana to sell on the black market.

The two men, both in their 30s, allegedly rented out two apartments in Jerusalem where they set up elaborate environmental controls to grow the illegal plant. The makeshift greenhouses included special lighting, air circulation systems, and fertilizer.

While the two suspects - one a resident of Jerusalem, the other from the town of Yeruham in southern Israel – both deny any wrongdoing, police say they discovered hundreds of marijuana plants in the two apartments.

One of the two apartments used for the operation is located in the Har Nof neighborhood.

Police confiscated 250 marijuana plants from one unit, some 100 plants from the second.
