Five IDF soldiers were lightly wounded Tuesday, after an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) flipped over during a training exercise at Shavta Artillery Base.

All five were transferred to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva for treatment.

The IDF is checking the circumstances of the event.

It is the latest in a series of IDF training accidents, one of which sadly proved fatal.

Last month, 19-year-old private Yehuda Suissa from moshav Beit Uziel to the west of Modi'in, collapsed during intense physical activities at the Givati Brigade training base.

He was running together with his comrades during combat physical fitness tests, when he suddenly collapsed. Suissa's death was pronounced after attempts to resuscitate him failed.

In another incident last month, a tank suffered a direct hit from a shell fired by another tank during a training exercise. Miraculously, no one in the stricken tank was injured, despite it suffering considerable damage.
