Michael Abramov, eulogized his 10-year-old son, Shimon, after he was hit by a bus while riding his bicycle in Jerusalem’s Shmuel Hanavi neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.

“He was always smiling and full of life, he respected his parents, was sensitive and full of kindness," said Michael. "We haredim believe that the Almighty has a plan for everything. God took Shimon to atone for a generation."

The father sent a message to the people of Israel: "We need to increase selfless love. When there will be complete unconditional love throughout Israel, everything will work out in the end."

A family friend talked about the mourning that befell the entire neighborhood. “People cannot comprehend this loss and don’t know how to move on.”

According to figures by the Beterem organization, which promotes child safety, Shimon Abramov is the 27th child killed on the road while riding his bicycling since 2008. In addition, every year about 700 children are hospitalized following bicycle accidents. Doctors say that it is very important to wear a helmet as it reduces 88% of head and brain injuries.
