Baruch Marzel, a nationalist activist from Hevron and a member of the Otzma Yehudit party who almost became an MK in the last elections, made an interesting revelation after administrative detainee Meir Ettinger was denied leave for his firstborn son's brit milah (circumcision).
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the request for leave by Ettinger, who has been jailed without trial in an administrative arrest for the past eight months.
Marzel took a trip down memory lane on following the brit for Ettinger's son, Netzah Binyamin, recalling back when he was himself in administrative detention during the birth of his seventh son Yishai.
"The government of (Yitzhak - ed.) Rabin and (then Internal Security Minister - ed.) Moshe Shahal let me out during an administrative arrest to attend the brit of my son," Marzel wrote on Facebook, noting on the leftist Labor government that was in place at the time.
In contrast, he noted, "the wicked government of the Likud Bibi (Binyamin Netanyahu - ed.) and Boogie (Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon - ed.) didn't let Ettinger out."
Ettinger's lawyer Ariel Atari spoke to Arutz Sheva shortly after the hearing on Monday, and noted that Ettinger's grandfather former MK Rabbi Meir Kahane was also let out of administrative detention for the brit of a grandson who was born during one of the times he was jailed without trial.
