Cold temperatures and localized rains will persist over the weekend after several days of rain, forecasters predict Friday morning - with snow even expected on Mt. Hermon in the Golan Heights.
Highs Friday will reach 14°C (57.2°F) in Katzrin, 11°C (51.8°F) in Tzfat, 22°C (71.6°F) in Tiveria, 15°C (59°F) in Haifa, 17°C (62.6°F) in Tel Aviv , 14°C (57.2°F) in Ariel, 13°C (55.4°F) in Jerusalem, 15°C (59°F) in Mitzpe Ramon, 19°C (66.2°F) in Be'er Sheva, and 21°C (69.8°F) in Eilat.
Rain predicted for northern and central Israel will taper off toward Friday afternoon, but will return Shabbat (Saturday) afternoon and evening with a slight drop in temperatures and high winds. Flood warnings are currently in effect for low-lying areas.
Next week, temperatures are predicted to rise slightly as the rain stops.
The week's rain reached its height on Thursday morning, with the strongest storms reported along the southern coastal region. In Ashkelon, some 40 mm (1.5 inches) of rain reportedly fell in one hour, from approximately 7:50 - 8:50 a.m. local time. The sudden downpour closed several streets to traffic.
