Three Arab residents of Yafo (Jaffa) were recently arrested on suspicion of throwing Molotov cocktails at a police patrol in the city, it was cleared for publication Sunday afternoon.

They were busted through a joint operation between the Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet).

During interrogation, the three admitted to throwing firebombs ten days ago at a police car in central Yafo, ostensibly to "support the Palestinian people" against the backdrop of Jews "offending the sanctity of the Temple Mount."

Rapid police response to the incident led to the three - one adult and two minors - being arrested and taken in for questioning.

An indictment against the three was filed in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court and the Tel Aviv Juvenile Magistrate's court Sunday, prompting the gag order to be lifted on the case.

Yiftach District Commander David Gaz praised the quick response of police officers, and the subsequent ISA investigation.

"An incident in which residents use violence and throw Molotov cocktails at police officers who work to maintain security and maintain public order is incomprehensible here, and it is certainly not acceptable," Gaz said. "Any violent incident, particularly directed against police officers, should be treated with all of our resources."
