Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Rafael Ramirez, told Arutz Sheva on Wednesday that his country welcomes the raising of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flag at UN headquarters.
“We are happy because it’s a step towards the resolution of the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” he said, adding that “a huge majority of the countries [in the UN] agree that we have to find some solution based on the principle of the existence of two states.”
The raising of the flag, said Ramirez, is not a unilateral move on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, because it was passed as a resolution by the UN General Assembly.
“We believe that this will help, because Palestinians have the right to exist. It’s one step [in that direction],” he added.
