Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) seeks to dissolve the committee tasked with selecting performances for Israeli students as part of the Culture Basket educational arts program.

In an internal letter sent to officials in the ministry, Channel 10 reported, Bennett exclaimed: "Look at the people who are deciding what kind of art our children are exposed to."

Last month, amid public outrage over the Al Midan Theater's play based on the life of a terrorist murderer, Bennett overruled the culture committee's decision and removed "A Parallel Time" from the Culture Basket.

In the letter sent, entitled, "Why should we dissolve the committee and allow each school principal to decide for himself?," Bennett called to disband the committee and transfer power over which shows go into the Culture Basket to school administrators.

"What chance is there for an artistic theater in Samaria to have something in the Culture Basket when [Norman] Issa is judging it?" Bennett posed.

Issa, an Israeli-Arab actor, also recently stirred headlines when he refused to perform in Judea and Samaria.
