Oven baked sesame chicken Malky Soffer


This is a healthier way of making sesame chicken as well as being a very quick recipe when time is short. It also freezes very well so you can make it in advance and pull it out from the freezer when you don’t have time to cook.


  • 1kg cubed chicken breast
  • A third of a cup of flour
  • ¼ of a cup of ketchup
  • ½ a cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ of a cup of vinegar
  • ¼ of a cup of olive oil
  • 1tbsp mustard
  • ¼ of a cup of warm water
  • 1tbsp sesame seeds
  • Parsley (optional)

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit).

Spray a 33cm by 23cm (9” by 13”) baking dish with cooking spray.

Place chicken in a large bowl.

Add flour and shake to completely coat the chicken.

Lay the chicken in the prepared pan.

In a medium bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, oil, mustard and water and stir until smooth.

Pour over the chicken and sprinkle the chicken with the sesame seeds.

Cover the baking dish tightly and bake chicken for one hour.

Uncover baking dish and bake for a further 15 minutes.

Sprinkle chicken with additional sesame seeds and parsley (if using) before serving.

Serve with steamed rice.
